Spray Tanning

Tan the safe way with a spray tan.

Unless otherwise requested all our tanning solutions are 2 hour. This means you can shower after only 2 hours developing time and you don't have to wait the usual 8 - 12 hours as with other conventional spray tan solutions.

Looked after properly spray tans usually last for up to 7 to 10 days.

On your first visit you will be issued with a loyalty card. Every time you have a tan we will stamp the card so you pay for 5 tans and get your 6th tan free.

Why choose spray tan?
Spray tan is recognised as the safe alternative to tanning in ultra violet (UV) rays which are beamed directly from the sun and are also emitted from solarium beds.

Spray tan allows you to look good and feel great all year round without the risk of skin cancer and the aging effects associated with UV tanning.

How spray tan works
Skin is made up of two main layers: the epidermis on the outside and the dermis on the inside. The epidermis is also made up of layers. The deepest layer of the epidermis, called the stratum basal and the outer most layer, the stratum corneum. Stratum corneum is the layer that is changed by the application of spray tan.

Dihydroxyacetone (DHA) as the active tanning ingredient found in all spray tan solutions and has been used in the cosmetic industry for over 30 years.

DHA is a colourless sugar that interacts with the dead cells located in the stratum corneum of the epidermis. As the sugar interacts with the dead skin cells, a colour change occurs.

This change usually lasts for approximately seven to ten days from initial application.

Before Your Tan
Gently exfoliate your whole body. Remember to pay special attention to your knees, elbows and ankles. You need to remain free of deodorants, lotions, creams, talcs, perfumes and make-up.

What To Wear
Wear loose dark casual clothing. Cotton fabric is the best choice as the bronzer will wash out easily from cotton. Anything synthetic such as silk or rayon will need to be taken to the dry cleaners for the spray tan to be removed. Also, the clothing should be loose. Females should go braless if possible immediately after their spray to avoid a bra rubbing against the skin and removing the tan. We will provide disposable G-Strings, sticky soles for your feet and disposable bras (if required) for you to wear whilst we are spraying you.

After Your Tan
Don’t do the dishes or strenuously exercise in the initial 2-hour developing time. Your tan continues to deepen and darken long after you have showered. The tan will continue to develop for up to 12 hours. Be careful when showering so as not to scrub or accidentally exfoliate the tan. When having your first shower after the developing time it is best just to rinse the bronzer off without using any soap or shower gel. When drying the skin just pat yourself dry, no rubbing as this will damage your tan. Morning and night hydrate and nourish your skin with a moisturizer or body lotion that does not contain AHA’s. AHA’s promote exfoliation of the skin and will stop your spray tan lasting as long as it should. Also be reminded that swimming in salt or chlorinated water or strenuous exercise resulting in heavy sweating will promote skin exfoliation and therefore shorten the life of the tan.

Tan Extender
You can extend the life of your tan and its rich colour with a tan extending product these products are enhanced with DHA and other extracts to nourish the skin. Applied daily this product will gradually build up a natural looking tan or extend an existing tan.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. I have sensitive skin, can I still be sprayed?
If you have eczema, dermatitis, or psoriasis it’s best to patch test the skin. If the skin has no reaction the spray tan may go ahead within the 24 hours.

2. Can pregnant or breastfeeding women be sprayed?
Testing has shown that DHA does not penetrate the skin, nor enter the blood stream. Therefore, it appears safe to spray pregnant women. However, if you are worried we suggest you seek advice from your doctor. For women who are breastfeeding, you should ensure your nipples are wiped over before breastfeeding or better still, place small makeup pads over the nipple area during the spray tan application.

3. During my first shower, I have noticed some colour washing away and my skin is almost back to pale again?
This is fine and completely normal. The excess colour that is washing away is the bronzer not your spray tan. The DHA has been absorbed into the skin and will continue to develop over the next 12 hours.

4. How often should I moisturise after being spray tanned?
It is advisable to moisturise once a day in summer, twice a day in winter. This will help your tan to fade evenly while keeping your skin well nourished.

5. Can I shave or wax my legs/body parts before or after the tan application?
You should wax or shave at least 12 hours prior to your spray tan, doing this allows the pores on your skin to close up so there is less chance of black spots in the pores.

6. I’m tanned now do I still have to wear sunscreen?
Yes most definitely. The spray tan application does not provide you with any sun protection whatsoever so you still need to wear your normal sunscreen.

7. Can I wear make-up when tanning?
Make-up will act as a barrier so if you wear make-up it is likely that the tan on your face will be slightly lighter than on the rest of your body.
